Books carelessly placed on the shelf, waiting to be arranged
Cards of written scriptures frolicked on my mat
Pictures of people -past and present; hung on the wall
Fragrances twirling in the air
The chair was filled with clothes patterned with sweat maps-clothes from my walk of shame
Mostly needing to be laundered
The pink calendar stood at the angle of the wall-reminding me of the dates and times that had passed
My white window blinds were spotted with blood stains, lipsticks and Cream
The door stood on its hinges, weakened by age
2
The storms were gathering, the weather prediction was wrong
It started from drizzles, to rain and then the storms
The wind that accompanied it was so violent
Before long, the drainages were filled with water
The water seeped under the weak door slowly at first
And then it quickly filled up to the window level breaking down the door as it gushed in
The rain almost filled up the room, it was on for days
The water tarried in my room and slowly seeped out after
3
Days after, the rain stopped finally
I stood by the door way and I didn’t recognize the room
My mat had been washed away, the books, faint scripture cards, pictures all destroyed
Even the stains had washed off my window blind
My heart was broken because it meant I had to spend money to refurnish The room
I got the services of The cleaner and He cleaned and cleared and washed my room clean
4
Now I stand by the doorway
Hardly can I recognize the room
The old door had been fixed, the window blinds replaced with patterned white ones
I got a mattress and a bed in place of a mat
New books filled my new shelf
I got a new calendar-waiting for dates to be circled
I had the chance to re-create new memories to replace the pictures on my wall
I look at the room and it’s all new
Looks like the room I saw in the master plan
New and well arranged
My room-my mind
aww! I love it... broken hearted, starting over. we all have the opportunity to
ReplyDeleteAwwww.. Absolutely LOVE this!! Why have you not been writing naa :'(
ReplyDeleteAn external factor comes along, abruptly, and washes away the memories and blueprints of years lived long ago. Probably the mind was as disorganized as the room and it took a storm to calm the mind. Really nice poetry. Never knew you wrote poems. Would love to see more :).
