Too many of us have been too afraid to be honest or say the truth, we think by being honest our spouse, our friends or our sisters would not love us any more.
I like truth especially when we are friends, I want to hear the truth from you (I probably won't hear it from the frenemies). If you can't tell me the truth then the whole essence of friendship is lost I think.

True, truth hurts but I think finding out later that you are not worth the truth hurts more. I used to believe in protecting parties but not any more, in fact, my new maxim is “Hurt me with the truth”. I think the only exception to the rule for me is if my lying is going to save someone from being killed then may be I will lie..lol.
Or may be I just might never know if I will tell the truth or lie until I am faced with the situation but then I have proposed in my heart not to lie because I am trying to save my face or any friendship…I probably will lose the friend anyway when he/she finds out the truth.
What’s your take on this issue, I would like to hear your views?
Most people actually cannot handle the truth, but for me tell me the truth straight up and I handle the consequences...shikena.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to say thins, but as of now,i feel there's a time when 'lying' would be considered good.Don't get me wrong, the truth is golden and very important. However, there are times when the truth would actually kill, howbeit not physically, but emotionally/psychologically and remember, psychological death is worse than physical death sometimes. The only thing is knowing when to use a 'lie' and not turning it into an habit. The saying applies that "there's time for everything".
ReplyDeleteLying is one of the 7 things GOD hates, but we humans do it with impunity because of the circumstances / situation we find ourselves.
ReplyDeleteSo, this matter is not black or white, there are grays in between. As long as I don't bear false witness against my neighbour.
I ask for grace and forgiveness from GOD because the rat-race society we live in test one's integrity and faith everyday!
My dear, you want to hear the truth doesn't mean others want to oh. I have friends who are now distant because according to them, I told them what they didn't want to hear
ReplyDeleteNot everyone can handle the truth, but if you really care about the person, you will tell the person the truth. The way i see it, if you are trying to protect someone by not telling them the truth, the reality is that you are being selfish because you are thinking of not looking like a bad person to the other party, not that you are interested in the other party's success. So hiding the truth from someone is actually about you, not the person.
ReplyDeleteI prefer being told the truth even though it will hurt. Realising later on that I have been told a lie hurts even more than when the truth is told from the outset.
ReplyDeleteIt's not a good feeling to realise later that you were not worth the truth and possibly made a fool out of.
Truth always. I might not like it, it might hurt and i might hate you for a bit but please, I will deal
ReplyDeleteTo me, truth is better. If someone lies to me, I'll have an altered opinion of the person which may impact the friendship or whatever. Therefore, truth is better.
ReplyDeleteFor the most part, I'll take the truth.I may bite and scratch and foam at ny mouth in denial. But in my quiet time, I 'l roll it around in my head and be rational about it
ReplyDeleteI love the truth, lies ultimately always hurt and does no good. Truth on the other hand may not be well taken at first but has eternal rewards, and I consider this incomparable to anything.
ReplyDeleteI've decided to just tell the truth in all things because lies may be good (or "protecting") in the beginning but they eventually hurt and turn into things that are far from protection.
ReplyDeleteGreat post!

Truth and honesty above everything else...makes one sleep better at night!
ReplyDeleteI've never been the type to believe in lying. You've just beautifully given the perfect reasons to stand by my resolve.

Blessings....
ReplyDeleteI too prefer the truth.
Yes I can tell the truth….
…although there are consequences for telling the truth that is not always easy to swallow or live with yet the alternative – to live with “it” being untold can do more damage to ones psyche and self-esteem. …Consequences such as shunning, isolation, criticisms, the subject of rejection…etc. it’s the reason people are not always motivated to tell the TRUTH.
Currently living it,
Though not all together regretting it...
For the most part
