So I just got this pretty little ankara dress, my new Taylor has been good to me, I noticed my wardrobe lacked traditional wears so I decided to make some. So I made a little sleeveless Ankara gown.
I so much liked the dress, it’s a casual dress though, I collected it from my Taylor with so much enthusiasm, you know that feeling na, when you get new stuffs and you are so eager to try it on. I was working on a Sunday afternoon, and I was so prepared to wear my newest dress to work. I hurriedly put the dress on only for me to discover stretch marks on my upper arm. Arrghhhhh. Stretch marks??
Stretch marks are beasts, am wondering why I didn’t notice them abi na it ...till now, I was so discouraged and am like “Gosh, I won’t be able to wear this dress again ooo” I later confirmed the existence of these tiny beast on my tummy, my breast and my waist.
Where in heaven’s name do these marks come from? Research says they are as a result of the rapid stretching of skin associated with rapid growth or weight gain/loss. These marks may also be influenced by hormonal changes associated with puberty, pregnancy, muscle building etc. When our body's elastic fibres deep beneath the epidermis become damaged these scars can appear. Women often tend to get them on their breasts, thighs, hips, abdomen, arms, around the belly button, buttocks, and back.
If you're noticing stretch marks on your body like me, you're not alone. Stretch marks I hear are a normal part of life for most girls and guys. When a person grows, loses or gains weight really quickly that person may get these lines called stretch marks on their body. And while they're more common in girls, guys can get stretch marks, too.
The joy I have is mine are those thin fine lines and my bestie says they are kinda sexy ( *wink wink) and somehow I’m grateful. The truth is plus-sized people often have stretch marks and we can either live with it or deal with it. I think why I didn’t notice mine earlier is because I hardly wear sleeveless tops. But whatever the case might be, should we or should I now stop wearing my new clothes because of these marks??
I hear some guys say they get irritated by the sight of stretch marks, especially on their chic’s body...wetin na? While people like me don’t fancy it too much sha, but ki lo fa irritation? If na your body the thing dey nko? Mscheew. Did I tell you a good friend of mine also said stretch marks turn him on ...eh eh eh,(some weird things)
A lot of people go to extremes in order to lose weight these days, so we should expect to see more of these beasts once the drastic weight loss goals are achieved. Whether these stretch marks appear due to pregnancy or weight loss or gain, there is a solution to prevent or reduce the unsightly stretch marks. There are a lot of creams that are available in the market, which can help you to reduce or prevent the stretch marks.

Bio oil and Shea- butter were recommended to me by my numerous "alabases" (helpers) and guess what? It’s been working. Stretch marks they say can be so difficult to get rid of, but ermm... I’m glad to say, mine has been obedient and is rapidly disappearing. I can’t wait to rock ’em clothes. Catch yah!
yes, stretch marks can be a pain in the ass.. slim gals do have them...and some plus size people don't have them,,,,like me....SURPRISED? ..don't be!...you see, i had always being fat right from babyhood, so my body accumulate so much fat without wahala..*laughing*..even after 4kids, i don't have them on my stomach, my cuz was shocked the day she saw my stomach..not wrinkled..but flabby & smooth...hehehehe....i DON'T wear sleeveless because of my 'all christian sister arms'.....that is my pain.. take care sis..tnx for commenting in my blog :)) have a nice week ahead.

ReplyDeleteI went from a really chubby kid to a really skinny kid in the space of three months (boarding school at 9 yrs old does that to you) so I got them when I was just hitting puberty,it got to me so bad...I've slowly started spreading out again and I'm petrified of getting any new ones!
Your guy thinks its sexy so no worries :D
ReplyDeleteThanks so much 4 visiting my blog :) xoxo
Blessings....
ReplyDeleteDo not put such meaning on stretch marks, you are in good health, you have no disease that ravish your body, you are able to help yourself, you are mobile, your feet and hands work. You are blessed, love yourself as you are, stretch marks and all, your imperfectness is perfect. Do not sweat over the trival stuff. Accept the things you cannot change and change the things you can.
My dear, only a few blessed women dont have some of them on their bodies. I've heard about shea butter and Bio oil too and i am so glad it's working for you.
