IT'S ALL GONNA FIT INTO THE BOX

I have had this in my draft for almost two years now, I can't remember why it wasn't posted. I fee strongly about posting it today, so here it is....

Jan 11, 2011: This morning, I woke up feeling so heavy at heart, I kept thinking over it all when a face book message came in on my phone and broke my line of thought. Grudgingly, I picked up the phone to read and the message really lifted me. I think y’all should read it too. Enjoy!

I was in the car chatting away with my husband while waiting for the train to arrive at the station this morning when I saw a lady. She had so much to carry, obviously travelling and not on her way to work as was the case with majority of the other people around. I mentioned to my husband that anytime I see someone carrying a heavy load, I always feel for them and think on their behalf, that there will eventually be an end to the journey and the end of the day, meaning, they will at some point be relieved of their luggage, so irrespective of how tough the journey is, at the end of the day, the story changes.

The situation reminded me of a story I heard earlier this week, and that is of an old lady that always loved to play monopoly with her grandson. She played with him all through from when he was 5 years old till he was 16 years old and constantly won him at the game. When the boy turned 17, he was preparing to go into University and had a heart to heart talk with his grandma. ‘Grandma, I am about to go into university now, and you have beaten me at this game practically all my life, tell me the secret so I can go ahead and be a champion amongst my mates at Uni’, to which grandma responded, there are only 2 rules to constantly win in this game, and I will tell you one before you go into the university. Rule one is, buy all the properties you land on, even when others don’t want them, buy them, however, make sure you always have enough cash in the bank to fall back on, in case of crisis.

The boy was very excited about this, and went to Uni with that golden rule in the bag. While there, for the whole year, he played monopoly with everyone willing to play it with him, and won them, living by grandma’s rule. He was crowned the monopoly king on campus and was very excited. He then went back home for holidays. The first back, he played with grandma. After 6 hours of playing, by 1am in the morning, for the first time in his life, the young man won grandma in the game of monopoly. He was at the peak of excitement when he thought to ask for the 2nd rule of forever-winning monopoly, to which, on her way upstairs to bed, grandma said, ‘the second golden rule to always win is, at the end of the day, all the pieces always go into the box’. That was sure not what he expected. He was waiting for something more philosophical and scientific that will always deliver victory into his hands…. the 2nd golden rule seems too simple to him.

As it was with this rule from grandma and my thought with regards to the lady with huge luggage this morning, at the end of the day, situations iron themselves out! Life ends up fitting rightly like a puzzle and you wonder why you were anxious in the first instant.

Philippians 4:6 say: -
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God

As my husband and I were discussing this morning, anxiety, in the midst of our days or challenges does not change the day or the challenge. If anything, it makes going through the challenge more difficult, however, if we sincerely know and believe, that our lives are hid in Christ and Christ in God, then we walk in the truth that God knows everything that concerns us and that our current situation or circumstance is all part of a puzzle, and at the end of the day, it will all fit into the box.
God is on your side!
Pastor Bola Idouze ( “The Proverbs 31 Woman Group” on face book)

After reading through, I couldn’t help but smile. It may look so crazy now, with all the challenges about job, money, relationships, business etc…But it feels good to know that at the end of it all, it’s all gonna fit into the box.

Have a highly productive and fulfilling Tuesday!

  5. I love how people can read a story and get so many different things from that one story.

In the context that you wrote the story, it is made to teach to not be anxious that at the end all things work out well. Which is the absolute truth, thankfully

For some reason though, I read it as a lesson on how to approach life.

When she said buy all properties as long as you have something to fall back on... I read: grab every opportunity in life that presents itself to you as long as in the process you don't loose the essence of your life (be it your faith, your stability, your family or your love)

And when she said in the end all the pieces go back in the same box, I read because if you loose the essence of your being in the quest for success, remember that success is fleeting... with you today, with another tomorrow, the only things that remains (and to which you will always have to return) are those essential things like your family, your faith, your love, your stability

  9. Anxiety compounds your problem. Everything we do in life is wrapped up in that simple-yet-powerful statement by Jesus in Matthew 6:25-27: "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life"
Even though the journey might seem unsummontable, with Christ by our sides, we have learnt that His good will for us will prevail.
    Shalom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
