"I've never been in love before...But I can imagine its similar to the feeling you get when you see your waiter arriving with your food- Unknown"
Dashing into the bathroom for a quick shower and hurriedly getting ready for work, everyday was pretty much the same. Sleeping off at the desk even after the cup of coffee, waking up at 3am and moving into her bed, snoozing the 5am alarm and waking up late then rushing for work.
“Soon, I know this novel would come together” She sighed at her thought.
Just like every day, she practically ran to her cubicle in the mornings, greeting everyone in sight. They were used to her lateness, no one could complain, she is an asset. Her Thursday column is a huge success; she made up for her lateness with her talent.
“You have a deadline” is all her editor rings in her ears as he passes her cubicle every day, but today he added “Don’t forget your interview” with a puzzled look on her face she asked
“What interview?” “Everyone wants to meet the genius behind Thursday”. Huh?”She whispers. “Did Jimmy not tell you? The interview is next week, be prepared.
She still didn't understand what they saw, the management, and the extra people that bought the newspapers on Thursday… now this Interviewer that has requested me on her show. They all called her talented, she didn’t see it.
She didn’t even write the previous night, she just needed a good sleep and early rising. She dressed more professionally today, she had to impress her readers and she felt confident.
“Why do you write?” The most difficult and at the same time the question she appreciated the most. “I have a story, God gave me. He gave me hands to write, money to buy a pen, a beautiful and sound mind, He put me at a table and said “Share”, and she paused.
“So, why do I write? I would say obedience”
Thinking about her reply as she tucked herself into bed, she smiled and for the first time she saw what they saw and she whispered “Thank you, Lord”
************
I think I've known you all my life,
Can't remember the first time we met personally tho'
I just remember daddy warning me against you,
I was a rebel so it felt good to go against him.
I was curious,
It lead to the greatest love affair.
I would sneak to have a piece of you,
Sometimes I got caught,
I was scolded, I didn't mind, the time spent with you although short was worth it.
I was in love.
The undiluted joy I feel whenever it’s time to see you,
The butterflies in my tummy,
The feeling of satisfaction and fulfillment I get from being with you,
I know you are irreplaceable.
It was your complexion, or the way you looked at me without questions.
Just with that extra pinch and you are the sweetest.
You rock my world, and it started after our first meet.
Mummy was always quiet, she noticed the love I guess but she thought I would outgrow it,
But here I am; 21 still haven't "out grown" you,
She is tired. He doesn't scold me anymore too.
He has accepted our love affair.
He now understands,
Understands that the love I have for
Gari would remain.
