For the month of December we have three (3) guest posts coming up. Today, we have ms_tizzle of Tizzle's voice sharing with us on the Essence of Christmas. Priscy will be talking about her 2012 in retrospect on the 26th (Boxing day). Watch out.

Essence- Most essential part of an idea
or an experience
Jingle bells, Jingle bells, jingle all the way, Oh what fun it is to ride on a one. Horse. O. Pen. Sleeeeeeigh!!
Merry Christmas everybody! And a happy new
year in advance!!
Christmas is a merry time for most people.
It's a time to love, a time to laugh, a time to be thankful, very
thankful and a time to give. It's a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus
Christ because the essence of Christmas is this Divine birth. We wouldn't be
celebrating Christmas if Christ had not been born now, would we? It was a birth
birthed from a heart of love. "For God so LOVED the world that He GAVE His
only begotten Son..." Centuries ago this Gift was given to us, years later
we have cause to celebrate because this
Gift came, saw and conquered just because of us.
Christmas used to be all about family for me.
Extended family coming together to eat, dance, exchange gifts and eat some
more. I can say for many years, the essence of Christmas for me was family. It
wasn't about the people though; it was about the atmosphere, the excitement and
the love we shared. With age came more knowledge (and dare I say wisdom?) and I
realised that there was much more than my family to be excited about. Much more
than the plenty food and drinks, much more than the "envelopes" I
received.
Even though the season has now been
commercialised and the same forces of darkness that tried to kill Jesus when He
was born keep trying their best to take the spotlight of Him, He still remains
the Christ in the Christmas. He is the primary cause of excitement now. It's
not about Santa (or Father Christmas) and it's certainly not about a Mr "X"
(as in Xmas). It's about Jesus!
I refuse to get carried away this season. I
refuse to get over excited about the several days off work. I refuse to attend
all the shows and concerts being organised without celebrating the reason for
the season.
Unto us a Child is born
Unto us a Son is given
And the government shall be upon His shoulder
And His name shall be called Wonderful,
Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Christ is the Essence of Christmas. To
Him be all the glory and honour and praise forever and ever. Amen.
